ALLAI

Role in the project

ALLAI will develop the Union Sandbox Framework (USF) which includes regulatory guidelines and tools for AI sandboxes and focuses on governance, legal and ethical standards, provider criteria, and technological design (WP2). ALLAI will also support all other WPs in designing operational models and compliance processes for the Sandbox Framework (WP3), conducting pilot projects to test the framework and scheme (WP4), and training national authorities to operate effectively within AI regulations and sandboxes (WP5). Since the USF collects relevant outcomes from other WPs, ALLAI will reflect all feedback and lessons learnt in an updated version of the USF and will provide recommendations to policy makers.

ALLAI is a leading independent non-profit organisation focussed on advancing trustworthy AI. Founded by the 3 Dutch members of the High-Level Expert Group on AI, ALLAI has been involved in the policy process towards the AI Act from the outset. It has advised the AI Act’s policymakers both at EU and at national levels on all elements of the AI Act. ALLAI brings a unique combination of in-depth legal, technical, ethical and societal expertise and experience on AI. It fosters multi-disciplinarity and involves broad expertise in its activities (e.g. AI and data-scientists, legal scholars, ethicists and behavioral scientists). ALLAI’s work is aimed at various stakeholders such as policy-makers, social partners, consumers, private and public sector and society at large.
