Role in the project
Lead of the Italian pilot in WP4 and contribution to WP3 (compatibility of the sandboxes with HPC infrastructure) and to WP2.
Cineca stands as one of Italy’s largest computing centers, is globally recognized for its role in HPC, and serves as a crucial provider of solutions and services for italian universities, research centers, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of University and Research, and other institutions. Established in 1969, Cineca operates as a consortium of publicly held entities on a not-for-profit basis, dedicated to advancing the common good and serving the interests of its consortium members and the national system. Its membership comprises 118 entities, including 2 ministries, 70 Italian universities, 46 national public institutions. Cineca is currently hosting the pre-exascale system Leonardo, that with almost 14000 NVIDIA A100 GPUs and more than 100 PB of storage is a state-of-the art system for the pre-training and adaptation of foundation models and for the development of large AI models.
